Three thieves tried to rob a 77-year-old grandmother at an ATM — and instantly regretted it.
Winifred Peel, a retired woman from Bromborough, Wirral, was running her usual errands when she stopped to withdraw cash. As she entered her PIN, three young men suddenly surrounded her. One pinned her against the machine while another tried to grab her money. They assumed she’d be easy prey.
But Winifred wasn’t the fragile target they imagined. Drawing on the strength of someone who’d grown up with three brothers and stayed active all her life, she spun around, grabbed one of the attackers by the collar, and slammed his head into the ATM three times. Dazed, he stumbled back as his shocked accomplices bolted.
