Eduardo Alvarez, director of the Flying Parrot Córdoba flight school where Bertazzo was employed, recounted the final exchange between the instructor and his student. According to Alvarez, Bertazzo told the student, “You know what to do, keep moving forward.”
Alvarez described the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. Bertazzo removed his headphones, organized his personal belongings including his mobile phone, unfastened his seatbelt, opened the door, and exited the aircraft. The student then sent a message informing others of the situation and returned to the runway to land.
Mental Health Questions Emerge
Reports indicate that Bertazzo had been dealing with mental health challenges and had previously sought treatment at a neuropsychiatric clinic. Alvarez stated that only close family members were aware of this history, and no colleagues or students noticed any warning signs beforehand.
