Tyrus Walks Away from the Ring to Put Family First

Tyrus’ Six Kids: Inside the Former Wrestler’s Blended Family — and the Lessons That Guide Him
George “Tyrus” Murdoch made his name as a powerhouse in the wrestling ring and later as a bold Fox News commentator. But away from the spotlight, his most important role isn’t on TV or in the arena—it’s at home, where he’s a father of six.
Choosing Family Over Wrestling
When Tyrus retired from wrestling in 2023, many assumed it was due to age or injury. Instead, he revealed the real reason: family.
“You can always wrestle another match,” he told People. “But you can’t get back that soccer game, that riding competition, or dinner when they need you.”
For Tyrus, walking away wasn’t about stepping down—it was about stepping up.
A Blended Family of Six
Tyrus and his wife Ingrid share a daughter, Georgie Rose, born in 2014. Together, they are also raising Ingrid’s two sons from her first marriage, along with Tyrus’ three children from previous relationships.
That makes six kids in total—a blended family full of challenges, laughter, and lessons.
“I had three children born in the same year with three different mothers,” Tyrus once admitted. “I had to grow up fast and accept that my choices came with consequences. But those kids didn’t ask to be here—it was my responsibility to show up for them.”
A Childhood That Shaped Him
Tyrus’ commitment to fatherhood stems from his own painful upbringing. Raised in a home marked by abuse, he was eventually placed in foster care after his mother’s family rejected him and his brother for being biracial. Without a stable father figure, he often felt abandoned.
“I made a promise to myself: my kids would never feel like I did,” he said. “Even if I screw up, even if I don’t have all the answers, they’ll always know their dad shows up.”
Making Everyday Moments Count
Since retiring, Tyrus has leaned fully into family life. Weekends are spent at Georgie’s equestrian events or on the sidelines of his sons’ games. For him, the small, everyday moments mean the most.
“The best part of my day is driving one of them to practice and hearing about their world,” he shared. “It’s nothing headline-worthy—just them being kids—but it means everything.”
Lessons from Painful Sacrifices
Fatherhood hasn’t been without heartbreak. Custody battles once kept Tyrus apart from one of his children for more than a decade, something he calls “the most tearful period of my life.”
“You can be stubborn, you can think you’re right,” he reflected. “But at the end of the day, you’ve got to put the child first. Pride has no place in parenting.”
Finding Connection with Each Child
Despite having six kids, Tyrus works hard to bond with each individually. Georgie shares his competitive streak through horseback riding. His stepsons keep him engaged with sports talk, while his older kids challenge him with the realities of teenage life.
“I didn’t have a playbook growing up,” he admitted. “I had to write my own. Sometimes I get it wrong, but I’m always willing to learn.”
The Rock Beside Him
Tyrus credits much of his family’s strength to Ingrid, a fitness entrepreneur and, in his words, “the glue of the household.” The couple officially married in January 2024.
“She’s the rock,” he said. “She doesn’t just raise our kids—sometimes she raises me too.”
Parenting with Purpose
Tyrus often draws on wisdom from his grandmother, who once told him: “Don’t be judged by your circumstances—be judged by how you react to them.”
It’s a lesson he passes on to his children. “Life’s not always fair, but how you respond defines you. I want them to be tough, but also to know it’s okay to cry.”
Trading Applause for Memories
For Tyrus, leaving wrestling wasn’t a loss—it was a trade.
“Championship belts collect dust. Family memories don’t,” he said.
The man who once fought for titles and applause now fights for something far more meaningful: the love, trust, and lasting memories of his children.
