The Biker Who Appeared When Everyone Else Stayed Silent

And now, here was this biker — leather jacket, tattoos, and all — doing what no one else had the courage to do: act. Not recklessly, not violently, but with quiet urgency. He spoke softly to the dog as he poured food and water into a bowl. From my window, I saw his shoulders drop, his hand gently stroking the dog’s fur through the railing.

He wasn’t breaking in.
