12-Year-Old Girl Shot in the Head Making ‘Miraculous’ Recovery

Sophia Forchas, a 12-year-old girl, is defying all odds after being shot in the head during a tragic school shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. While Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moyski, 10, were killed, Sophia is now fighting for her life—and winning.

Her story is even more heartbreaking because Sophia’s mother, a pediatric critical care nurse, came to work that day unaware her daughter was among the victims. Sophia’s younger brother, thankfully, escaped unharmed.

Described by her family as “bright, kind, and full of life,” Sophia was initially listed in critical condition. Today, her family reports her condition has improved to serious, calling her progress “miraculous.” They wrote:
“The road ahead is steep, but Sophia is climbing it with fierce determination. She is fighting not just for herself, but for every soul who prayed for her. Please continue to keep her in your hearts and prayers. She is a warrior!”
