Colin Farrell has shared the emotional journey behind his difficult choice to place his 21-year-old son, James, in long-term care.

James, born with Angelman syndrome, a rare neurological disorder causing severe physical and intellectual disabilities, has always been at the center of Colin’s world. Misdiagnosed early with cerebral palsy, James has faced challenges including seizures, speech impairment, and motor difficulties.

Colin explained in a candid interview:

“It’s not easy. But what if something happens to us tomorrow? We want to make sure James is in a place where he feels safe, connected, and cared for — with us still around to visit and be present in his life.”

The actor recounted James’s milestones, like learning to feed himself and taking his first steps just before turning four. Watching his son’s determination brought Colin to tears, highlighting the magic in James’s resilience.
